2.27.25 :: When opportunity texts...

(above: still shot from my appearance on Good Day Uncut on Fox 29 Philadelphia)

*whew* this has been a wild week, in a good way. Monday evening, I took part in a, well, spontaneous for me, print session with printmaker Alexis Nutini at his studio. I was there to pick up a print and we'd planned on pulling a couple of prints, as well, but I forgot we were doing that on Monday. Anyway, it happened and we made a couple of nice large prints in an edition of two, one for hime and one for me.

Tuesday morning found me having a hard time getting myself moving out of bed. It was one of those mornings where I was feeling a bit down about a few things when a friend texted me at 9:30am. It was Mike, who works at Fox 29 Philadelphia. He produces a show for the station's live stream in the morning called Good Day Uncut.

Long story, short, Mike asked if I was willing to be the subject of that morning's show at 11am. The original guest had cancelled. I said, "yes" and got myself into gear, going through all of my morning routines in record time and making it up to the studio with ten minutes to go before air time. The host, Hank Flynn, is a pretty high energy person and was authentically interested in my work and what I did. He knew little about my work, but asked some pretty good questions.

I think I finished another 24" x 36" painting yesterday. I'm letting it sit for a while before rendering a "final" verdict. I'm liking it, so far. Just need a title and that'll be it. I feel pretty good about where it's wound up. It's a primarily blue horizontal using the tri-forms. I may be coming to a turning point with thses forms, but I'm not entirely sure I'll let them go completely. I really need to make some larger paintings with them, like I did with the Black Drawing paintings. Of course, that takes money and I'm not sure where that's coming from right now.

In the meantime, the new Soft Poems are close to being done and I'm working on another longer-term project, so I'm keeping busy, of course.
